Our first meeting was called to order on October 18, 1975 by 12 van owners with one common interest: vanning. That previous summer, perspective members had attended numerous van-ins, including ones at Cecil County Raceway in Maryland; Mechanicsburg, PA; and Butler, PA. Many names were considered for the new club, but those early events saw a trend start of staying up late under the moon light and “shooting the moon” at our fellow vanners. Thus, the name for the new club was an obvious one: MOON LITE VANS.

Membership in those early years reached as high as 76 vanners (you had to own a van to be an active member). One of our proudest moments was caravanning to Provanity in New York with 46 vans all in a line on the highway. It was a beautiful sight to see and quite hectic keeping everyone together!

Throughout the years, Moon Lite Vans has hosted many campouts, parties, and road rallies. We still host our annual winter party, with this past winter seeing Snowball #33 happening. We have had a representative at many of the Van Nationals and the Council of Councils over the years. As a member of the PennsylVANia Van Council, we helped host the 24th Van Nationals in 1996, and along with Performance Inc., we co-hosted the 33rd Van Nationals. We originated the popular vanning mug, selling over 500, and donating a portion of the proceeds to charity.

Lately, membership numbers in the 20’s. Although no original members are still active in the Club, many of the present members have been in the Club since shortly after that first meeting in 1975. We are a seasoned Van Club that will celebrate our 34th anniversary on October 18, 2009. Known for our Cherries and “Canadian Olympics”, Moon Lite still “Feels Right”.

Performance Inc. was formed in 1969 as a high performance car club. Since then, we have gone through many transitions and we are now mostly a vanning for pleasure club. We have weekly meetings and our membership is currently about 30 strong (and 12 weak).

Our members have been truckin' since 1975. Attending truck-ins from Canada to Kentucky, from Pennsylvania to California, and everywhere in between. We've attended truck-ins with as many as 35 trucks and as few as one. But no matter the number, we are here to support the sport of vanning. If you have met us at a truck-in, you probably know us from our infamous Black Box. And you also know that we try to make as many of our compatriot's truck-ins during the year as well as sponsoring our own.

For most of the last three decades we have had our own truck-in. We hosted our annual Show 'N Shine for 15 years, starting in 1976. That was eventually replaced with our own truck-in event, Keystone Madness, which began at the Kutztown Fairgrounds in 1993, and has continued here at Summit Station for the last 12 years where we are now co-hosting the 37th Van Nationals. In 2008 we will celebrate the 16th Annual Keystone Madness Truck-In hosted at the Schuylkill County Fairgrounds.

Just like our co-hosts, we have had a representative at many of the Van Nationals and the Council of Councils over the years, and as a member of the PennsylVANia Van Council, we also helped host the 24th Van Nationals in 1996, as well as co-hosting the 33rd Van Nationals with Moon Lite Vans Inc. Whatever the reason we may have crossed paths over the last 40 years, thanks for your friendship and support. As most of the people that have gone to Truck-Ins can tell you, once you've joined our ranks, you're a friend for life.
